About Raksha Bandhan - Rakhi Festival Information

It is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the Hindu month called 'Shravan' ('Shravan Poornima') which generally falls in the month of August. It is simply called "Rakhi Festival". Initially this festival was celebrated in the north and west parts of India; later it spread across the country. Nowadays it is considered as a sacred festival and people used to go for temples to say prayers, making sweets and distribute among the families and friends. It is really a good festival in India for love. In fact Raksha Bandhan is another face of the Indian culture and tradition. Indian women tie up the Rakhi not only to their own brothers but also the friends and neighbors whom they consider as their brothers.
